LUCENT creates light installations that merge video, lighting, technology, and interaction with aesthetic expression. History
Since 2007, our work has garnered attention starting with a permanent installation at the international media art festival "ARS ELECTRONICA." From there, we have actively participated in major media art festivals and exhibitions globally. In 2009, our intricate interactive images gained recognition at Canon's "NEOREAL" exhibition during the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy. 2011 saw the hosting of our solo exhibition "LIGHT EMOTION" at the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza, Tokyo, followed by another "LIGHT EMOTION" solo show in 2012 at the Mitsubishi Jisho Artium in Fukuoka, Japan. We collaborated on an installation featuring historical archive jewelry at the BVLGARI "Italian Supreme Brilliance" exhibition in Ginza, Tokyo.
Subsequent projects included SEIKO show windows for Baselworld in Switzerland, a permanent installation at SHISEIDO The Ginza, a chandelier installation at CASSINA IXC., a Christmas tree at Omotesando Hills, a Shiseido Ultimune installation, the sphere installation "Wonder Moments" at NIFREL, the CONRAD OSAKA permanent prism work "AURA" and the Shiseido Ginza main store's permanent artwork "Mirrored Pieces." In 2018, we presented "Crystal Rain" for KAWAI at Milano Salone in Italy, and in 2020, unveiled the "TOKYO AIR" installation at Haneda Airport International Terminal. Our portfolio also includes projects for the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza, "INTENSITY" by Takahiro Matsuo, "Dreamscape" for LA MER in Shanghai, and the 2021 PIAGET Ginza show window "#YourMagicTurn". In 2022, we created "Lights of hope" for Shiseido S / PARK, followed by "The Creation" at the UI ART CENTER in Suzhou, China, in 2023, alongside a show window for MIKIMOTO Ginza.
LUCENT is committed to continuing to create numerous artworks and fostering collaborations with external companies and brands on an international scale.

Takahiro Matsuo

Director of EMISSION
Born in 1979, Takahiro Matsuo advanced his education with graduate studies at the Kyushu Institute of Design. Matsuo has developed a diverse portfolio of work that spans aesthetic expressions and technological innovations, with a particular emphasis on light installations.
His creations, which include video, lighting, objects, and interactive components, are renowned
for their subtle and emotive expressions of light. These works draw inspiration from natural
phenomena and imagination, positioning him as a leading artist in public art for urban and
commercial spaces, international exhibitions, and collaborations with luxury brands.
Matsuo's contributions to the art world include numerous exhibitions, lighting installations,
interactive art pieces, and lighting and projection spaces across more than 18 countries.
In 2020, he founded "EMISSION," a brand and art studio rooted in the concept of "Light Crystallized." Here, he focuses on directing prism art installations and designing interior products, continuing to explore and expand his artistic vision.
