Aquatic Colors

Groups of jellyfish emitting pale blue light become luminescent and gather as though sympathetic to humans when approached by the hands or body. With person’s position as the starting point, the body of light connectedly wraps the entire space like waves. The flickering of jellyfish with real-time CG is produced interactively by means of an algorithm applying the “1/f Yuragi” theory that exists in the natural world, simulating in a realistic way the subtle light variations (strong light and weak light, etc.) that are present in nature.

This large-scale installation was produced for Canon’s “NEOREAL” exhibition at Milano Salone 2009.
