Tove Jansson and the Moomins
# Event Exhibition
LUCENT has created the visual installations for “Tove Jansson and the Moomins", which opened on July 16, 2025, at the Mori Arts Center Gallery in Tokyo.
The Illustration Immersive Visual Area brings Tove’s monochrome illustrations to life with captivating visuals and 3D sound. Striking scenes from the Moomin novels are projected across the four surrounding walls and a central pillar, immersing visitors in the enchanting world of the Moomin stories.
Another highlight is the life-sized projection of "Fairytale Panorama" © Moomin Characters ™, a mural Tove painted for a private kindergarten in Finland. Spanning approximately seven meters across two screens, the video shows the original charcoal sketch slowly gaining color, transforming into a vivid fresco. This immersive piece offers a rare glimpse into Tove’s creative process.
Following its Tokyo run, the exhibition toured Hokkaido, Nagano, Aichi, Hyogo, and Fukuoka—bringing the experience to audiences across Japan.
